Slow to heal

Posted in Uncategorized on March 3rd, 2012 by admin

Its been several weeks since I’ve worked in the shop. I dislocated my shoulder riding trials a little over 6 weeks ago and it has been a slow recovery. I’m to a point now where I’m about 90% pain free but have zero shoulder strength. I think a few more weeks and I’ll make a full recovery but it has been slow.
I’ve cleaned the shop and am ready to finish a couple of builds I have on my plate. I hope to be posting pics of those in the coming few. Until then, I’ve simply parked-

Almost finished with my SS fixture. This will have the ability to handle curved stays, which I am a fan.

Sing to your favorite carol….but today I am headed two steps back!

I got bit by POS cheap China tool with this SPI wiggler. Note to self, after twenty years of using & buying tools professionally, you get what you pay for still stands true! I picked up this wiggler for a song (a sad one at that) and its first use…………..

Such Quality is Breathtaking

oh silly me.

Next up……..after locating and drilling the holes for this jig I’m building…….BAM!

Awww SNAP!

There is only one way I feel at the moment……

I feel better now. Thanks for looking-

Just a little salt is all

Man! Although this one isn’t complete, it went smooth as I have changed my sequence/ build procedure resulting in a much more dialed frame. Time-wise, I am really happy. Efficiency is being conquered!
I am in no hurry as I’ve spent the past three years learning this craft and constantly working my methods, but, I feel one or two more frames and I’ll be ready for the ’show’. Thanks for looking-

I’m a huge fan of curved stays, especially seatstays. They may not beg for a flogging, but they sure give some character to the rear end.

Shots of Chain Stay Jig

CS Jig

This serves two purposes. I weld the dropouts to the CS and then I set the CS length, and miter them to fit the BB.

Jig Rework

Posted in Uncategorized on November 9th, 2011 by admin

Seems I spend more time adjusting my technique and process than building. I believe I am real close to being completely DIALED in my process and have redesigned a frame jig to work in the ‘modular’ method I like. This is a peek of the seat tube and chain stay block.

And a Wednesday special….closeup of a fork dropout….

Oh so crisp!

This frame screams Shred It

+30 BB

Chainstays so tight they'll squeek!

This frame will be a blast to ride. Manual monster, just enough flick-a-bility but long enough cockpit not to be twitchy. Bomb proof. Thinking about riding this one off a cliff….Mad Matt style! Thanks for looking-
